An Assistant Teacher is a professional who enhances student’s comprehension during instructional periods. This role involves supervising learners and extending education beyond the classroom through lunch or recess activities for effective knowledge reinforcement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· To support the lead teacher in helping to foster the overall development and well- being of each individual as directed by the Lead teacher.

· Assistant teacher trained or untrained will fulfill their role in accordance with the Montessori philosophy.

· To work alongside the lead teacher to create an environment in which the children’s learning flourishes.

· To be jointly responsible for the pastoral care of the children.

· To teach individual children, or in small groups under the direction and in consultation with the lead teacher.

· To help the lead teacher prepare lesson plans.

· To set up necessary materials for classes.

· To track student attendance and class schedules.

· To make sure classrooms are safe and tidy before classes start.

· To assist the lead teacher with various tasks, like grading assignments and informing parents of their children’s progress.

· To help students adjust, learn and socialize and report to teachers about possible behavioral issues.

· Faithfully and fully implement instructions from his/her supervisor(s) and the management of the School.

· To supervise children during play or lunch.

 

The teacher may also be required to participate in outdoor activities, field trips, and other events as part of the curriculum. The position may require occasional evening or weekend work, such as parent-teacher conferences or school events.
