On June 5, 2026, The International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB) celebrated the graduation of its EC3 Class of 2026. Families, teachers, alumni, honorable guest, and friends of the school gathered together to honor an important milestone in the lives of forty young graduates.

Filled with laughter, music, gratitude, and hope, the ceremony marked not only the completion of the children’s kindergarten journey, but also the beginning of a new chapter filled with possibility and discovery.

For many parents, it was an emotional moment. It seemed like only yesterday that their children first entered the classroom, holding tightly to a parent’s hand. Now, they stood proudly on stage—confident, independent, thoughtful, and ready for the next stage of their educational journey.

Graduation is often described as an ending. Yet at MSB, it is seen as a beginning—a celebration of growth, individuality, curiosity, and the lifelong love of learning that lies at the heart of Montessori education.

Every Child Has Their Own Direction and Sky

One of the highlights of this year’s graduation ceremony was the presence of Ms. Loretta H. Yang, pioneer of Asian LIULI art and founder of the LIULI CHINA MUSEUM.

As an artist, educator, and cultural pioneer, Ms. Yang shared a heartfelt message about growth and the future.

 “Graduation is not the end of learning,” she reminded the graduates. “It is the beginning of a new journey.” She encouraged the children to carry forward their curiosity, their love of learning, and the courage to discover themselves through new experiences.

Looking at the graduates, she offered another inspiring message: “Never be afraid to dream big. Every dream begins with a small step, and every great journey begins with the courage to move forward.”

She also reminded the children that every person is unique and irreplaceable. “Do not compare yourself to others. Discover your own strengths, follow your own path, and let your own light shine.”

Adding special meaning to the occasion, every graduate received a commemorative LIULI crystal paperweight created by LIULI GONGFANG.

LIULI occupies a unique place in Chinese civilization. Dating back more than two thousand years, it was treasured by emperors, scholars, and artisans as one of the most precious artistic materials in ancient China. Known for its translucence and ability to capture light, LIULI symbolizes wisdom, transformation, hope, and beauty.

Just as LIULI must pass through intense heat and repeated refinement before revealing its brilliance, children grow through challenges, perseverance, and courage. Every experience becomes part of the journey that shapes who they will become.

This special gift also reflects MSB’s educational philosophy: respecting the individuality of every child and believing in the unlimited potential within each young learner.

A Community That Grows Together

Education is never the work of a school alone. It is a journey shared by children, families, and educators.

Several parent representatives reflected on this journey during the ceremony, offering heartfelt messages about gratitude, growth, and the future.

EC3 parent representative Oliver began by expressing sincere appreciation to the teachers who have accompanied the children throughout their years at MSB.

“Thank you for helping our children become the people they are today.”

He reflected that parents often celebrate visible achievements such as confidence, independence, and academic progress, but behind every milestone are teachers who patiently guide, encourage, and support children each day. In his view, the love, care, and dedication of the teachers have helped create a safe environment where children can flourish and grow.

Another parent representative, Irene, a mother of two, shared her reflections on watching children develop into unique individuals. “Every child shines in a different way. Every child grows at a different pace, and every child has something special to offer.”

She spoke about the importance of respect, inclusion, and community, noting that the greatest gift of education is not helping children become the same, but helping each child discover their own strengths and develop the confidence to become the best version of themselves.

MSB PTA President Andrea Pavone focused on what she believes is the most important outcome of education. “The most important thing about education is learning to love learning.”

She encouraged the graduates to remain curious, embrace challenges, and never be afraid of making mistakes. Learning, she noted, is a lifelong journey, and the ability to continue exploring, adapting, and growing will remain valuable long after children leave the classroom.

Together, the parents’ messages reflected a common hope: that the children would continue to grow with confidence, kindness, curiosity, and courage as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

The Montessori Journey: Lighting the Flame Within

More than a century ago, Maria Montessori introduced an educational philosophy that transformed how the world understands childhood. She believed that every child is born with a natural desire to learn and that education should help unlock the potential already within them.

For more than three decades, this philosophy has guided MSB. Beyond academic achievement, the school strives to nurture curious minds, compassionate hearts, independent thinkers, and responsible global citizens.

As the graduation ceremony reminded everyone: “Every voice is heard, and every dream is valued.”

The EC3 Class of 2026 represents the living spirit of this philosophy. Through exploration, creativity, independence, and community, these children have already begun a lifelong journey of learning and discovery.

As the ceremony came to a close, the children gathered with teachers, classmates, and families to capture one final memory of their EC3 journey.
