A Landmark Partnership: MSB Joins Hands with a Leading California School District

In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB) is proud to announce an exciting new milestone: a strategic partnership with the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD), one of California’s most respected public school districts. Beginning in April 2025, MSB will launch an American-style high school program on its Beijing campus, offering students direct access to a U.S.-accredited curriculum without leaving China.

This partnership allows MSB students to experience high-quality American education aligned with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation standards. They will be supported by a joint teaching team, shared academic practices, and comprehensive college counseling services, all designed to prepare them for entrance into top global universities.

Students will benefit not only from an enriched curriculum but also from the academic excellence of PYLUSD's renowned high schools. For example, Yorba Linda High School—known for its Mustang Business Academy—boasts a 90% AP course pass rate and a strong record in business education. Esperanza High School shines in STEM fields with its Medical Science Academy (MSA) and Aztec Engineering and Manufacturing Academy (AEM), making it a top choice for students interested in medicine, engineering, and technology. El Dorado High School offers innovative programs in law and media, including the El Dorado Law Academy and Digital Media Arts Academy (DMAA), fostering well-rounded, socially aware learners. Meanwhile, Valencia High School, an IB-accredited institution, is home to the ValTech Academy, specializing in engineering, multimedia, and technology-focused education.

These schools serve as models of the PYLUSD system, and their expertise will help shape the program offered on MSB’s Beijing campus. Students enrolled at MSB will gain access to a curriculum inspired by these leading high schools—allowing them to tailor their learning to specialized pathways in business, medicine, engineering, law, media, and more.

The district itself is located in Yorba Linda, one of the safest cities in the United States. It offers a secure, welcoming environment with a strong educational ethos and a supportive community—ideal for students considering short- or long-term study abroad opportunities within the district in the future.

As part of this new program, MSB students will also enjoy comprehensive college preparation services. This includes individualized academic planning for AP/IB pathways, SAT and TOEFL test prep, host family matching, and psychological and emotional support—ensuring a smooth and confident transition to higher education both locally and internationally.

MSB students are particularly well suited for success in this setting. The school’s foundation in bilingual education, inquiry-based learning, and global citizenship aligns seamlessly with the values of the American education system. From an early age, MSB learners develop strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, all of which are essential for success in top universities around the world.

Through this partnership, students will be eligible to earn a U.S. high school diploma by the end of Grade 12—giving them equal standing with American students when applying to universities. With access to the same academic, extracurricular, and college counseling resources, MSB students are positioned for success on the international stage.

This collaboration is more than a cross-cultural exchange—it is a bold, future-forward step in education. Backed by 35 years of MSB’s commitment to excellence and the proven success of PYLUSD’s top schools, students will be empowered to explore their passions, achieve academic success, and take confident steps toward world-renowned universities.
