Student Counselor (Student Well-Being Coordinator / SEL Counselor)
The Student Counselor supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.

Position Overview

The Student Counselor supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. The role involves close collaboration with teachers, families, and external professionals to promote student well-being and success.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Counseling & Student Support

· Provide individual and small group counseling

· Support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs

· Refer students to external professionals when necessary

2. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

· Design and deliver SEL lessons (e.g., emotional regulation, empathy)

· Support development of study skills and learning habits

· Collaborate with teachers to support student needs

3. Collaboration & Communication

· Work closely with teachers, leadership, and specialists

· Communicate with parents to support student development

· Liaise with external counseling services

4. Student Well-being & Inclusion

· Promote a positive and inclusive school culture

· Advocate for student well-being

5. Crisis Intervention

· Respond to student crises and provide immediate support

· Work with leadership in emergency situations

6. Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain accurate and confidential records

· Monitor progress and prepare reports

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

· Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field

· Experience working with children or adolescents

· School counseling or international school experience preferred

Skills

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of child development and mental health

· Ability to work collaboratively

Language

· Fluency in English required

· Mandarin preferred
