Journey to the AMS 65th Anniversary Summit

In 2025, the International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB) had the privilege of embarking on a journey to the 65th Annual Summit organized by the American Montessori Society (AMS), an event with a distinguished 65-year history. This year’s gathering was especially significant, marking 118 years since the establishment of the Montessori pedagogy. The conference featured in-depth, forward-thinking discussions on key topics, including the current landscape, future directions, and evolution of Montessori education in the United States and beyond. Experts and practitioners from around the world shared valuable, thought-provoking insights and experiences, contributing to the continued advancement of Montessori education.

Montessori education is thriving in the United States. Nearly 5,000 private schools nationwide implement Montessori principles, along with approximately 600 public schools, reflecting its strong recognition and growing influence within the Western education system. Additionally, more Montessori schools are expanding their programs to cover the full K-12 spectrum, earning widespread acclaim from elite families. As Chinese culture continues to gain global prominence, many prestigious Montessori schools have introduced Chinese as a primary second language. This trend has drawn significant attention to MSB from international Montessori institutions, paving the way for future collaborations and exchanges.

As the largest and longest-established Montessori international school in Asia and a leader in bilingual Montessori education, MSB sent a delegation of nearly ten seasoned educators to the conference. Each team member has been with MSB for 15 to 30 years, contributing a wealth of expertise. Throughout the event, they built meaningful connections with fellow educators and gained valuable insights into the latest advancements in Montessori education worldwide.

The AMS brings together passionate and committed Montessori educators and administrators from around the world, fostering close exchanges. This year’s discussions centered on decades of Montessori experience in the U.S., the integration of Montessori education with artificial intelligence, and the design and development of future Montessori classrooms. These thought-provoking conversations offered MSB valuable insights and a clearer direction for the future of Montessori education in China.

These schools have earned strong recognition from elite families in their respective communities.
