The International Montessori School of Beijing unveiled its new brand images and celebrated 30 years of development in the international community at its 30th anniversary celebration on March 27 in Beijing.

Shirley Wu, Chairlady of Wisdom International Education Group and Ben Farrell, Head of MSB delivered speeches and shared MSB’s accomplishments with experts, parents and alumni at the event themed “Heritage and Innovation”.

After 3 decades of well-balanced development, MSB has grown from 10 students in a classroom in the Royal Norwegian Embassy to a unique and vibrant school of over 400 students hailing from 21 countries around the world.

Carrying forward the time-honored traditions of Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy since 1990, MSB has been committed in bringing out the best of each child and helping them grow to be self-directed lifelong learners with a global vision.

“We prepare our children for the future,” said Ben at the event, “they will possess critical thinking skills, be able to think with an international focus, and to act independently and flexibly within a team.”

Ben delivers a speech at the event.

“We will achieve this goal by developing and integrating innovative curricula from around the world into our challenging academic program. We’ll achieve this goal by standing on the broad shoulders of where we’ve come from over the past 30 years to innovate for our next 30 years,” said the Head of School.

Shirley and Ben together unveiled MSB’s new logo and mascot that will take MSB into the next 30 years. The new logo maintains the familiar Montessori shapes and slightly re-envisions them.  These foundational building blocks have been with MSB since the beginning and will always connect us to where we have come from.

Our new mascot, the Pegasus, is deeply entwined with both Dr. Montessori’s birth year of 1870 and MSB’s founding in 1990.  Both 1870 and 1990 are years of the Horse. The reverence for, and nobility, of the horse is well known in China, and around the world. The mighty Pegasus comes from Greek mythology, where it represents wisdom, openness to new ideas, and freedom of spirit and heart.

MSB’s approach of “Joy in Learning and Harmony in Diversity” is rooted in 30 years of educational excellence and resonates with parents and alumni.

“I believe ‘friendship’ wholly encompasses my experience at MSB,” said TJ Walton, who studied at MSB from 2001-2006. “I was able to build friendships and connections at MSB that still have a lasting impact to this day.”

“My daughter was encouraged to work interdependently at a very young age and inspired to develop passion for many subjects like art, music, history and drama, said a parent named Jennifer Qiu. “The six-year Montessori education has certainly left its mark on her. Her current English teacher spotted her cursive writing and said to her ‘you are from Montessori!’”

None of the achievements would be possible without our staff’s dedication. Over 20 long service staff who have been working at MSB for 15 to 28 years were presented flowers at the event in acknowledgement of their loyalty and commitment.

With 30 years of success under our belt, we’re looking forward to the next 30 years as we will continue to be a leader and a model of quality education in China.

We will never waver in our commitment to honor and serve the child with the utmost dignity, love, and respect.

The Future Starts Here.
